I just wanted to know what you think of my commander?
Ultramarine Commander in the gallery
Very exellent looking mini there... Is he 2nd company?
I especially like your highlighting and shading job... and the base is also very well done...
Keep 'em coming man! Very nice work!
My force is 2nd company. The commander and his honour guard have golden helmets and sholderpad trimming though.
For the honour guard i use the ordinary plastic marines with a greenstuffed Robe, Iron Warrior head #4 and the shoulderpad of the death watch marines. I have not painted them jet, ill post one when ive finished the first one.
Very nice! Lovely contrast between the cape and the armour. This may seem like a stupid question, but how do you take such good pics of your minis, mine always come out blurry with huge loss of detail where yours is perfect..........story of my life really...
Hey guys, thanks again for the nice comments.
Wolfrider - The base concrete look is made from carved plates of plasticard about 0,5 mm thick, sand was added to make some contrast in the base. Very easy to make, takes about 15 minutes tops.
TGI - I got abit of help from my friend who owns the camera, so im sorry that i cant give you any good advice, all i know is that its a good camera and that he uses some kind of autofocus. I can ask him his dirty trics and post here though.
I'm guessing that its based on the emperors champion model?
i tryed converting one a while back for my Raven Guard, but putting a jetpack on him proved difficult...
I adopted a cute lil' pikachu fetus
from Fetusmart! Hooray fetus! </a>
<a href='http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?M_O_R_T_I_S' target='_blank'>I FOUND THE UNTIMATE WH40K WEBSITE!</a>
Mortis - Yes this is based on the splendid looking emperors champion model. its a quite easy "conversion" to make. The swordarm is from a Grey Knight Justicar and the storm bolter is from the Commander of the Command squad box set. I dont like the extreamly huge sword the Emperors champion drags along and this shorter one is more close to the roman short sword (Gladius, spelling) The idea was to make my commander and his retinue have a roman style look.
Jumppacks are always tricky to fit properly on the model, they often hange to much to one side =D
ARRRGGGHHHHH...if i see one more painter that is better then me today....well....ill scream again...
anyway, good work, damn i hate it when newbies are better then me at painting...
Somehow I doubt very much that Vycos is a newbie...
Vycos, I love the idea of the Roman style scheme.. Not only does it look exellent but it is also very true to the fluff... Ultramarines are very Roman-ish in appearance, fluff and their names also resemble Roman names (Marneus, Uriel Ventris, Pasanius, Tiberius, Learchus etc.)
Hurry up and send more pics! I want to see more dammit!
