I'm about to start a Chaos army and was wondering how hard it is to convert a basic Chaos Marine squad to Plague Marine Squad.
I see there's a Death Guard shoulder conversion kit, but what's needed to legaly represent a basic space marine squad as a plague marine squad.
Can I just paint them a diffferant way??
paint them with lots of gross green colors and browns, lots of ink as well and maybe a gloss if you can in the end, but I think little things like bullet holes, maybe some wires here or there, or greenstuffed goo...
All you really have to do is earth tones (greens and browns), make them look gross, distended bellys, boils, sores, etc. Dipping them in woodstain makes for great detailing.
Nobody will think badly of you if you don't purchase expensive conversion kits.
A paint job will do just fine. A little work with greenstuff if you're feeling adventurous wouldn't go astray either.
It is super easy to convert SM over to CSM. As the above posters said you can just paint them up with a nice chaosy paint job and they will be good to go.
I would recommend filing off any eagles or purity seals though. Also green stuff will be your friend. Just roll up a tentacle or two or make a boil. Both are pretty easy and if they don't look perfect it doesn't matter because it is chaos.

I just greenstuff converted about 30 CSMs to Nurgle guys. I'll see if I can do another squad for my friend and will take step by step pics for you.
gimme a day or so.
Rome wasn't built in a day, Either should good scenery.
Thanks for the tips. I would be using Chaos Space Marines for the conversions, so no need to worry about pesky space marine insignias.
As far as tournament play, just a nurgle paint scheme is enough for a legal representation?
As everyone says Green stuff and green and brown paint is the way to go. How good are you with GS anyway? because there are meny little nurglish things you can do if you have the skill..
Also, are these Daethgaurd or Chaos Marines with the mark of nurgle? there is a difference.. (not as much as say, 1000 sons vs Tzeentch marines, but still).
