    Simple Marine Conversions...

    Hey guys,

With my new Marine Company i've been trying to give my army a bit of Uniqueness.

Unfortunately i'm no expert modeler :/

So I'm here for your help... do any of you guys know how i can go about making the basic Marine into something a bit more... interesting?

I've done a few bits and bobs, such as arm and head swaps etc, but apart from removing chainswords and adding combat knives i was wondering what else? I'm planning on doing a few 'reloading scenes' thanks to an inspirational post, but can you guys think of anything else?

I've thought about utilizing the Kneeling legs from from a couple of sprues but i get the feeling of 'incorrect posture' and it just doesn't feel right

I don't want to have too many models looking the same, so the more things that pop up, will allow me to spread things out abit more

    Cheers for any help,

    Shaabhekh

If you dont want to do anything to advanced... I find adding a little greenstuff (just a little not to much) to the arm/torso joints opens up a whole range of new poses.

grab yourself an extra sharp modeling exacto knife, a pin vice (or hobby drill) and see if you can find some gale force nine brass rods, (theyre so convenient - the packs come in like three different sizes)

to start off on the right foot so to speak, cut at the joints and reposition them using green stuff. I've got two large tubes of it and the stuff totally rocks my socks off, also you may want to find yourself a beginners sculpting tool kit. (dont forget to use lots of water while sculpting, it makes it less sticky)

hope this helps. got any more questions... ask them!! =) I'd be more than happy to help.

What you might want to try is shoulder swaps - marauder shoulderpads look awesome on marines, the thin spiky one and the skull one especially. Just trim off any chaosy parts

Another option is battle damage - drill small holes, insert a hobby knife and spin it - when the bullet hole is wide enough, add some scratching by digging in with the knife. Looks great on veterans

A couple of other ideas for you, hope they help.
    - Running legs - either reposition your own or buy some assault marines.
    - Bolters - use some CSM one or change the banana magazine for a straight one made from plasticard. You could also make some drum mags if you wanted. Don't forget things like scopes, bayonets and slings here as well.
    - Simple head swaps, including certain chaos ones (file off chaos symbols)
    - Cut a chainsaw holding hand off either the bent of straight assault marine arm (or better, use the bolt pistol ones) and replace it with a bolter held in an interesting position. This can be applied to any SM arm you can find - look to the commander sprues and others for interesting poses of arms.
    - Tabbards, cloths, purity seals and other interesting bits can all add individuality to a model.
    - Interesting bases will also help here.

This is to reposition the marines into awesome poses.

This is a very simple, and easy to use way to 'true scale' your marines.
Dark Millennium - True Scale Marines

And here is a much more diffucult way to true scale, but they look much better.
Ok for some reason this link uses these ** to screw it's self up :/

    Good luck.

Do you have a couple of buddies in the hobby or a store where you can meet some other players?

If you do, just get everybody together with their bitz and models, and trade, swap, barter, and model to your heart's content! Everybody's bitz box has something that someone else wants. Trust me. It's a great way to make all of your models cooler and more custom, plus get-togethers like that are TONS of fun.

Easy, cheap, fun. You can't beat it!!!!!

In addition to all those proposals stolen from my head! I had seen a very interesting conversion with a Marine lying on the ground firing.

I had the same problem, I live in a small town in Sweden not a single specialist store of any kind *sigh*. But then I went to the DIY-store, or hardware store, and there they were, hiding among the welding-stuff. Deadcheap to boot

    Oooh, cheers guys

I will check out those links and see what i can find helpful

I had thought about battle damage, but i had tried that last x-mas and wasted an entire box of marines with too much of it lol, would it look weird with just 1 or 2 holes/scratches on jst a handful or people? or would i need to add something to every marine/tank?

    ;Y
