How would i go about modeling and painting fire for say, a flamer or a space marine assault jump pack??? and any good source light tutorials for the fire and he area around it?
I'd check *this* out, if I were you.
'Tis a good little theory based article, with a nice tutorial attached.

Thanks, and i had seen that fire tutorial on the GW site, but not the one on painting, that was helpful...
but for modeling, i am look for more like the flames that were in that one diorama and model, in the gallery of the GW link, how would i scupt that flame to be coming out of the things on the back of the assault pack on assault marines?
Anyone got any ideas? please???
I don't have a tutorial nor have I actually done it myself but I would probably use Greenstuff to make the fire...
My suggestion would be to start with a small blob or sausage shaped piece of GS (really depending on what you are trying to achieve) and then using a tooth pic or other pointed device start pulling randomly upward (or away from the source). Usually you will see various tapered sections to the fire.

I found a quick and easy way to model fire is if you have any topknot ork heads around. Cut the hair off just above the hair tie and use that to represent flames. Looks particularly good with flamers....
