Well here we go, I've got a painting thread and I had a WIP thing ages ago but I requested it's deletation because of crappyness.
Here I'm working on some obliterators for my disciples legion army, make from chaos marine sprues, plasticard and putty.
Not going to put every gun on them because it gets too crowded on their tiny arms and it will make it look gross, I like the poses on them so far and I will be getting much more work done tomorrow. Adding lots of wires to them and once I've done all their legs I will be puttying up the limbs to give them that organic feel...
I really like this. I had planned to make some oblits myself once i had enough spare bits, but I'll definantly look to this for ideas. Great work and cant wait to see them finished
What does Slaanesh use to fish?
Haha, wow thats khorney
These are the updates for the obliterators, there is no legs on one of them yet but I still think he could kick some ass just as a torso.
There has been more wires added, they will be putty'd to look into the armor when I get time, today using a new blade I cut both my thumbs 3 times each and they were big ones so doing any sort of putty work is out of my reach right now, tomorrow will work.
The last set of legs might be added on tomorrow, using a groin plate that I've put on the 2nd one, the feet will be the biggest challenge I think and maybe the legs to get them look very terminator-ey.
Those are only straws used for the legs, cut in half and wrapped around each other over and over to build up strength and width, but I hope it takes putty well without breaking apart, I guess I should do the legs in sections, first a base to give it strength so it can take the details I add on later.
beautiful work man. I love your conversions. This one:
I love the pose. it's like he's reaching and coming forward. not static and standing there.
As for the not wanting to put very gun on them..
One thing I remember about my old Oblits, is that they had every gun on them..but not ALL of the gun showed.
Cut the barrel and like 1 cm of the gun's front off of a bolter, and when you greenstuff them, have the front of the bolter sticking out between muscles carved of gs. You look at a lascannon, I cut the angled front section off the las cannon, ignoring the long barrel, and stuck that coming from one of the eyesockets of one, then stuck it on the groin of the other (yeah yeah yukl it up ) but I modeled them to be walking weapon platforms, and like you, i didn't want them looking like the Mask, holding 52 guns and rockets in each of his hands.
just some ideas to add more bits to them. move off their hands and stick weapons elsewhere.
Rome wasn't built in a day, Either should good scenery.
I don't like them having guns on any other part unfortunately, I appreciate your feedback but personally I like the look off the guns all on one hand, They only have meltas/las/flamer and plasma, I'm doing 3 guns on each so thats close enough for me.
No updates though, been busy today with the housework.
