    Shonuff's Scenery Log

Okay time to make one of these. Seeing alot of them around and thought to myself it'd be a great idea to put the step by steps up so others might find some tips on making their own.
I have a list of things to create.

    Industrial City Fight table
18 solid buildings for city fight table
18 ruined buildings/ rubble piles for city fight table.
    Space marine Fortress
    Iron Hands Manufactorum
    Space Hulk Board
    Space Hulk Terrain
    Apocalypse Strategic Assets.

    Without further ado:

    Sho: out.

Rome wasn't built in a day, Either should good scenery.

    First project...City Fight Table.

I'm going to be doing this in 3rds. It will be a modular city fight table so we can use part of it or all of it depending on the game.

    More pics in a bit.
    Sho: out.

Duane, that's foamboard. or foamcore, or whatever you call it in your neck of the woods.

Simple foamboard. We have an art supply store here and they carry multipl thicknessesof the stuff
    in white or black.
It won't be nice and smooth when i'm done, when I get around to painting it, it's going to be spectacular (i hope)!
Concrete out and in, colored inside walls, detailed flooring, propoganda posters on the outside and other rubbish.
I have some things written down I want to do to my buildings.

UPDATE: Here is what a days work gets me...three and a half buildings..

Very nice, how are you making the windows so perfect? Using an exacto or something with alittle more robust?

I made a template with a sheet of styrene. It's a pricey template, but I know it won't wear down after a few uses. (i had a cardboard one but i wore it down)

I used a cardboard template to draw the sets of windows across the entire length of the styrene sheet.
I drew it on twice..one on one side, and the second across the sheet.

The one side of the sheet is square windows that were originally drawn,
the other edge of the sheet i took the square windows, maked them 1/4 inch wider (1/8th on both sides and bottom) and then gothic arched the top.

So what I do is trace the squares onto the foamboard with the steyrene template. cut them out with a sharp sharp exacto knife.

Then on a piece of thick cardboard, cut out the arches from the other edge of the styrene template, and then lay the thick card atop the foamboard, giving another layer to my walls, along with some details.
I'll see if I can post some pics of what i'm talking about when I get home today.
    Sho: out.
