Hi, I was wondering how to make snow bases for my Valhallan Imperial Guard and maybe my Spacies. I read an article about making some sort of mixture out of cheap easy-to-get house hold items that dries pretty fast and actually does look a lot like snow, even has that glare to it. Anyhow any suggestions would be great and I apologize if this has been posted recently. Thanks guys!(including librarium staff for keeping the site going)

you can get the sort of snowy flaky stuff in hobby stores, then just put glue on it to make it hard and paint it or whatever, or you could make it just using sand and paint it white, green stuff would work as well

I would say it depends a lot on how you want the bases to look.
Simplest way would be to just sprinkle sand or flock on to the base, and then just paint it white or whatever other colour feel fits the best.
For a more "smooth" look you could use filler to cover the base and just make sure that it get's the appropritate colour.
Best tip I would give you is to try a mix between the filler and a little of bare earth.
Cover the base with filler but leave patches to be painted as bare earth.
An easy method is to mix joint compound and white PVA glue till it gets nearly soupy and it will dry like a smooth snow base its cheap and easy
Hey you guys!
Just came to think of something.
If anyone of you have access to the kislev list that came with WD some months ago, there where some interesting stuff on snow terrain there.
i think somewhere i heard you can make snow bases by mixing backing soda, water and white glue. i cant remember the exact amount of the stuff, but itll come to me eventually.

Ok if your just looking for a way to make snow on terrain.
Then here's my cheapest and easiest tip.... use filler....
This is what I done for my dark elder bases:
Glue on sand
Paint shadow Grey
Dry brush codex Grey
Dry brush skull white
Edge of base paint skull white
All I did For my Berzerkers I walked into a Hobby shop and bought some chrismas decorational snow and painted it on, simple.
How does the result of that look?
Considering(and hoping) that the decorative snow is the right grain/size/scale or whatever I can imagine it looks good enough or even great.
Just make sure the sand or "snow" you use is the right size before you make tons of bases...
It's not particulary fun to suddenly realize: "Umm don't ask any questions but the snow flakes at this place are one meter across" or maybe "watch out for the hailstorm it could makes holes in our leman r... BANG!"
Now what I mean?
