I am starting a Legion of the Damned army and am not really sure how I am going to manage to get all those skull parts that are used on the models in the 2004 Annual. I would love to figure out how to do that if anyone has any ideas.

They are available from mailorder: http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/st...1301&orignav=10
They are however based on the older space marines and the heavy weapons especially look a bit dated. If I were you I'd mix them with some plastic marines for variation, the metal bits fit them too.

I wouldn't think this as a painting thread. Maybe I'm wrong but will a mod please move this.

Yeah, I found that they made the models and they look good. I know they are the old style weapons, but they all have the skeletons on them already. Like the missle launcher has a skeleton laying on the top of it.

Any ideas on how to paint the flames?

I was thinking I would have to convert a lot of models and paint a lot of skeletons on them. Still I am going to have to do a bit of coverting on the models and the paint is different so I am looking for any tips that I can get.

For painting bones, there are different looks:
Always start with a brownish color. Snakebite is excellent.
Mix 50/50 or 25/75 Snakebite and Bleached Bone, and get lighter as you go. Newer bones might even be stained with blood.
To get that really weathered, polished old bones look I would finish with a LIGHT drybrush of White.
Henceforth no man shall set foot upon the world, and all around shall be set sentinals to ward away unwary spacecraft. We must accept that this place is lost to us forever, and is now the eternal habitation of abomination.

I suggest you get the metal minatures instead of painting on skulls unless you're really good at freehand painting... They look pretty good except perhaps for the weapons, but you could always use normal bolters and heavy weapons instead.
If you want some variation you could order extra shoulderpads and backpacks and put them on normal plastic marines. Some of the chaos shoulderpads might work too.
The metal death company also have a lot of skulls on them, and they look a little more assault-like, sort of :) If you just put shoulderpads and backpacks on them they should fit right in, despite a few droops of blood.

Do thy eyes deceive thee or does tactical squad cost £55?!?!

I love the skull look but that is way too expensive.

Does anyone know where I can find the rules for the Legion?

The new rules are in the 2004 Chapter Approved.

Yeah they are really expensive, but I still think I will find a way to get my army made...

Can you give me an idea of what the rules are like without giving away too much?

What's this idea of yours? Tell me more... 8|
