Alright, tried a couple of colour schemes, the original red which was quite hard to get right, and a variant with bone instead of red, although the second was quite nice it didn't really fit and I disliked the sand feeling I got from it. I was going to do a second mini in the second colour scheme but i painted the bronze first and it looked good with the black so I did a little highlighting and came out with this:
I tried to keep some of the original red scheme in there, too - I'm really quite pleased with the results but could use a dollop of criticism/comments
Highlight the black and paint the boots a different color and you will have a very nice color scheme...

Otherwise, I'm with Tsele.
Change the boot colour (scorched brown highlighted with dark flesh is a nice, reddish brown leather colour), and you'll be all good.

Yeah, I guess i'll go with red boots - brown would be another colour to throw into the mix but red would go nicely with the cuffs to continue the tertiary colour. As for the black, it's highlighted grey but you can't see it much in the pictures, sorry
Thanks for replies
I think the paint schemes are both good.
