CHK CHK BOOM!
Damn, that freehand phoenix on the cape is... it's awful, it's making me wanna throw away my paint and brushes because i'll never be that good! DAMN YOU!
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

At last a GD winner that isn't a mass of "5up3r 1337 fr33h4nd" work.
It's a beautiful deceptively simple looking piece.....until you get to the back of the cloak, then you know why it won.
I almost think I could manage that.....in a few decades anyway.....as long as I didn't even consider attempting the phoenix on the back.

Well, it is an awesome paintjob. Really. But the staff looks really plain IMO and I think the NMM falls a little flat. Still, that freehand though...
That Tau-team though, that one was very pretty! Reminds me of that game, Haze.

That is amazing, to be able to freehand like that.......
Back in the zone!
Wow some really cool stuff in there, but that cape... man that guy must be a mega artist
Wow. The reason I say that is tha this actually demonstrates artistic talent, as opposed to just mini-painting talent.
Far be it from me to judge, but I would suggest that some aspects of the model have been left deliberatly plain, to really emphasise the phoenix on the back. And it is simply stunning!
An outstanding piece of work and my hat is well and truly off to whoever did it.
There's something about that that I just don't like, it's probably the base and pose. The freehand's rather lovely but it doesn't sell it for me.
Up, up and away!
The nmm has too little bite for me, too much chalky disney-pastell's in there.
But really fits the rest of the model, beautiful!
The pose, base, palette , everything comes together nicely, tells a story, with a calm and graceful air.
This one, i would vote for.
