I have recently procured a flying hive tyrant from forgeworld and am looking to make it so that i can remove the wings to enable me to dismantle it for travel as otherwise it is just waay too large.
Now the problem is that initially i used just a pin (paper clip). and the wing just fell off as the weight on the ing just enabled the wing to pull free of the pin when place horizontally.
Next i placed a magnet into both the wing and the HT (3mm x 1.5mm rare earth and i'm getting a very similar issue as the weight of the wing is too much for the magnet when it is horizontal.
Next on the list is to combine the two methods and place a pin below the magnet giving the wing somethingto rest on while the magnet holds it in place. Does this sound like the right route to you guys, or is there a better way.
Dear Game Developer,Caps-Lock, its like cruise-control for AWESOMENESS!
Rock is cheese, Paper is just fine
WWP and other Dark Eldar how to
That's precisely what i've done with my tyrant wings. I have magnets in both the wing and body, and next to the magnets i have two pins above and below to hold the wings stable. The magnets are strong enough to keep the wings on the model and the pins keep the wings vertical.
You may want to try and get as large a magnet as possible in the body for extra holding power, i used fairly small ones and i find it's JUST strong enough to keep everything together (balrog wings in my case, heavy)
