    chaos sorcerer modding Q

How do you folks go about adding wings/jumppacks or steeds to your sorcerers?

which bits have you used, and which do you think work the best?

im picking up one this week, and i wanna add some wings / jumppack to him..

trouble is, he's metal, so is the pack separate?

    if it is.. hooray!

as it stands ill probably put the possessed pack on him and call it a day.
maybe a raptor pack if i can get ahold of one.

    one last question:

a winged or jumppacked character is considered jumpinfantry and gets to deepstrike according to the codex (p85) , correct?

Actually, a winged character "moves as jump infantry", but does not "count as" it. The CSM FAQ confirms this.

Anyway, I'm not sure if the official sorcerer models have a separate backpack. Using possessed wings is one of the easiest ways to make a winged lord/sorcerer.

"They can be kept in reserve and arrive using the deepstrike rules"

the same line is written under both wings and jumppacks in the codex

now, why would they contradict themselves like this?

"Q: Does taking wings classify a model as jumpinfantry?

A: No, it simply allows the model to move like jumpinfantry, model must be converted to have wings instead of a pack"

wording in the codex is this:

"Models equipped with wings move in the same way as jumpinfatry as explained in the rulebook. In addition, models with wings can be dropped from low-flying gunships. They can be kept in reserve and arrive using the deepstrike rules (see 40k mission rules) "

isnt it always : Codex overrides the rulebook?

if thats so, then we can deepstrike, since the errata-entry is in the errata for the rulebook, not the codex , or am i just wishing?

p.s however the errata entry doesnt mention the ds-ing rules at all, are there any more differences between jumpinfatry and "moves like jumpinfantry" ?

maybe a mod would like to move this to the rules section instead?
