So I've wracked my brain for a long time, and just can't come up with anything. So anyone, PLEASE, what would make good objective markers for necrons? I'll take anything right now.
'crons could probably have a pile of ruined warriors or a tomb spyder that didn't phase out for some reason as an objective to retrieve
The GW people seem to favour using Crystals as objectives for 'crons
You could always have a Necron lord being held 'prisoner' in a stasis field by some Ordos Xenos inquisitor... had it happen while playing Dark Heresy
A person with the Pariah Gene would work, it could be an imperial citizen or a soldier of some type.
You could try using foam shaped into a Necron obelisk. There are guides on the GW Web site (UK version, I think), and you can see examples of large crystals/formations done with foam in the codex.
Basically, make a tallish piece of foam sculpted to look like some sort of "monument," then carefully carve in some Necron glyphs. Making it sligtly off-kilter (i.e., the Leaning Tower of Pisa) will give it some realism, but make sure you put mounds of dirt at its base to enhance the effect.
Those could be any size, really, depending on how ambitious you are, but if you're looking for something more "scenic," you could try to make the entrance to a Necron tomb. There are LOTS of tutorials out there on how to make buildings out of "the pink foam," and I'm sure it wouldn't take that much work to adapt one of those tuts to make something that looks like a tomb entrance.
Almost makes me wish I had a table at home to put stuff like that on
