I have been tinkering with the idea after reading a bit of the ork codex, imagining the warboss sitting on his giant throne made from enemy scraps and with his mega nob retinue.
So today I sketched this up quickly, as a brief template of the kind of ork I want to make, I want him to look tough, not weedy like the regular one, and here is my progress.
The head remains probably the least changed, with just a rim being added to the back and front of the helmet with plasticard rod cut in half, and some teef added to the front to make 'im mean!
(apologies for the bad photo)
Next was the first cybork arm, built because I hate the metal arms constantly falling off because of their ridiculous weight, and I don't have a PK spare so I thought I'd try a different route.
The back had a small piece from the old bike sprue stuck on as I was too lazy to make a proper engine and the pipe was just... a pipe, but was removed soon after.
As you may or may not notice, inside the middle of the klaw is a shoota which leaves the bosses free hand to hold either a pole or just simple give him a cool pose.
The back pack has really not changed much, the shoulder went through more building, 2 teef on the side that will have the smaller arm so its not so weedy.
My next plan is to actually turn the shoota into a skorcha, sort of like an ork Huron, the 2nd hand will hold a shoota and function as a combi shoota/skorcha.
Still to be done, make the ultramarine banner and then wreck it.
Cover him in bullets and trophys.
Make a super sick mek arm for the other side.
So what does everyone think?
Very nice, I love the claw shoota thing. Your skills with plasticard are very good.
keep up the good work .
WIP tau project coming soon.
that looks amazing, you have realy given me inspiration for modeling my warboss when i eventualy get him
Hive Fleet Penance - 3500 Points - 4/1/0
Waaaaaaagh Skagtrot (40k Orks) - In Progress
Dinhar Whitestar's Dragon Host (H.E) - 2000 Points
Looking good! I really like the shoota/Claw combo! Looking forward to seeing it completed! Keep it up!
Thanks dug, oni, alzer and geb!
I believe that from now on, no two warbosses should be the same, everyone should NEVER leave their orks with a default warboss/bigmek! It insults the ork kulture.
So I have a small update, the first being some big teef for his jaw, bolted on of course, rivets on random parts of his armor, and I made him a brand new arm for his other side with fingers!
The skorcha conversion idea I also added, where the inside of the klaw will count as a skorcha/shoota combi, the shoota I still have to make, but it will be most likely strapped to his body as a last resort, orks don't like shooting anyway!
So there it is! More updates tomorrow!
He looks so much more hXc now ;D Lets see how he stands up to a modded 'fex when i get them.. eventually.. mebbe proxies on sat?
"And I hope for your sake that you're on our side."
What i love about your work is how, when i first look, it doesn't really look much. But then everything just seems to mould together, and we end up with this amazing piece of work.
Really like it so far, look forward to seeing more.
Thanks Jamie, I always tend to make things better if I don't actually do ANY planning, I work much better if I just make it up as I go, then I can tell what works and what doesn't.
I made him a nice shoota that he wears to war, as he doesn't care much for shootin, as its a weedy grots way to get da killz - as you can tell by his klaw.
I added more rivets to his shoulders and other bits and pieces, and gave him a sort of "lightning klaw" on his smaller hand, just in case things get rough and he can't use the klaw, he can still defend himself.
So as you can see just a few minor changed now and the klaw, other than that he needs a banner and hes on his way to waging war at the local GW.
The backpack I feel I might add a few small bits and pieces to, just to make it pop a little more, maybe put an exhaust pipe back on it, but it still looks neat I think.
amazing. I wish my modeling skills were this good. wow man. very nice!
