I've taken a slight break from Warhammer for the past year or so, so some of the projects I promised were shelved ^^;. Recently I got back into sculpting and started with a Tau XV22 commander. However, that plan flopped as I have no idea how to sculpt crisp armor, and the thing is too small to add actual armor plates. I was also intrigued by the new Chaos Daemons army, so I dug up my Khorne forces and prepared for a bloodbath.
However, I wasnt content with my force being lead by a single bloodthirster. Khorne demanded more blood, so I was also gonna add Skarbrand into the force. yes, that means I'd have 2 monstrosities in a single 1000 pt army. The other bloodthirster also has maxed gifts, but that's another story .
Since there wasnt a Skarbrand model, and I wasnt about to clip the wings of a bloodthirster, I set about sculpting one. I imagine Skarbrand would not be titanically huge as Anggroth, but just a tad larger than a normal Bloodthirster. as a bit of reference, his legs are the height of a dreadnought, even curved at that angle.
at the moment I'm only sculpting his bare body. I'm torn on how to design his armor. His head will likely resemble that of the current Bloodthirster and his wings will be tatered and shriveld. However I will not be adding the horrendous amount of blood veins poping out of his muscles, those just plain scare me >.<. he's also missing his entire stomach/ab area, as that part is gonna be sculpted when I connect his torso to his legs (the material I use is Sculpey's and it needs baking, I dont wanna overbake the legs and his torso isnt finished yet). I'll likely have him done when summer ends
Im sorry to Necro this thread, but I was searching for anything on how to model Skarbrand. I have to say...
Awesome job so far! I really look forward to seeing more on this, you are a great sculpter from what I can see so far. For armor, you might want to try some Defiler armor plates at least for his shoulders, those mounted with Khorn symbols on the flat part look sick.
Good luck, keep on going with it!
