I have just joined here and have painted my first set of Space marines which were Chaos and i painted them as Black Legion which is pretty straight forward.
I used them mainly to get painting experience and now will move onto 2 x Oblits that i have and a new Chaos Termie squad which i will upload the pic's when they are finished.
Been learning techniques and stuff from tutorials books etc just need the practise now and to speed up. Hope you like them. Would be nice to see more Choas painted pics etc.
PS: bases are raw set for a complete revamping this is the first stage on the last attached picture below before painting transformation...... will be adding finished bases pictures and will actually take these with a camera rather than my mobile phone cam.
Also go to the last page(pg 4) for the beginning of the changing of the bases for some updated pictures.

Suggest that you give the basing sand a light drybrush of bleached bone or graveyard earth as well as a little bit of grass or rocks to break it up. Right now, it's the same color as the armor, so everything kind of blends together. A lighter base would help frame the black armor nicely.
Thank you Ifurita. Yes I have not finished them but will be adding grass etc after a few highlights of the base. Nice site you left the link to i have just added it to my painting source guides etc.
Thanks for the feedback
Those Chaos marines are actually really nice! The horns are painted nicely and I quiet like the style of the gold and silver trim.
Definately finish those bases. Also, Id paint the 'Casing' on the bolter a different colour, Black would be a nice simple one and it would stand out too much, the silver just looks to pain and boring.
I gave you an 8 because of the lack of basing... I like to see models based so I reduced the grade I would give you...
But a very solid and nice effort overall!
Thanks to all the people showing faith in me
I sometimes feel that everyone will leave me and they will be on their own...
Thank you Tsele and Dan. I liked your Dan Jones projects some real good figures there.
I will finish these of especially the bases so they will be ready to matt varnish. These were trials before i start to paint all the great models i have. i need practise. Also does anyone have any information or links to where to buy a great display cabinet for the models as i would like to keep them dust free etc considering all the hard work that goes into painting them.
For the display cabinet, they sell some decent cheap ones in Ikea. They do different sizes but my friend (flayedone583) has some basic ones which are about 6ft tall and 24 inch square with 5-6 shelves maybe. Thats just a guess though.
Links! £35-£89 or somthing.

Hi Dan thank you very much for the links to the display cabinets. It is very hard to find really good model minatures diplay cabinets. I have done some real searching and have found something pretty great and the price is also very nice. Also check out the other cabinet that i found on ebay quite nice also. Both have adjustable shelves which is handy. I did check out the warhound and really liked it. CLASS

Also check out the 40k squad that won in the Golden Demon awards LA 08.
the style i really like is the perfect blended figure and this is shown perfectly in the LA Golden Awards 2005 where this figure got Silver: amazing for a not so detailed figure kind of what i am apiring to become one day
Nice work, nothing really to critique as theyre a bit above tabletop standard.
youve gotten the metallics displayed in a good way without going OTT or getting it chunky
like i did (damn dried pots)
Youve done their lenses justice as well.
And, finally someone else who doesnt do blue plasmas
Bases are okay as is if you wanted them to be fighting on an ash world or sumthin'
(not every planet has grass and brown dirt, after all )
you get a 9 from me.
carry on, and remember to post pics!
Thanks for the 9 arachnid. Well i am ready to get really into painting i love it just at the moment i seem to take way to long per figure lol.
I really appreciate all the votes as it gives me a idea of what sort of level i am and make me strive to improve everyday. Yes i thought blue plasma is only for Space Marines and red or purple is for Chaos?
I kind of picked this up from a few White Dwarfe mags and stuff and i am also a big Dawn of War PC player/Dark Crusade/SoulStorm and also cannot wait for DOW II. In this you will always see CSM(Chaos Space Marines) using Red Plasma and Blue used by Space Marines. I love the blast from Red/purple plasma.
