I badly need help for my Tyranids Im buying paints tomorrow heres what im thinking.
I want bleached bone/skull white skin with watered down blood red in the cracks, but for their armour plates on their body Im thinking of watered down chaos black but im not sure if I should do blood red or skull white highlights on the plates or maybe even something else?
what you want to do is undercoat (spray or brush, up to you) your model white. Paint the skin bleached bone, give it a wash with the new washes baal red and then drybrush bleached bone on top. If you dont know what drybrushing is just whipe most of the paint of your brush and brush across the model in short fast strokes. This will leave the red in the cracks while having bleached bone on top. It may take a few times drybrushing to get a colour you are happy with. If you want you can also drybrush white after the bone to get a slightly lighter colour.
For the carapace paint it chaos black and then drybrush mechrite red followed by a very light drybrush (take most paint off your brush but this time brush the carapace very lightly) of blood red.
hope it helped you.

If you're confused about what to do with the carapace I suggest you pick the colour you like the most. If you paint the carapace black it will absorb the colour of any paint you put onto the edges of the carapace. You can use red to make it look like a dark red. White will be very stark looking though and there may not seem to be any colour graduation. Other colours you could consider are purple, green or blue. These three colours will look good with the colour of skin/exoskeleton you want.
