    Grey Knight Grandmaster [PICS]

Well, I finally finished my Grey Knight Grandmaster. I have named him Grandmaster Raphael. He’s heavily converted and painted. I have chosen to give him black armor for two reasons. First, it helps him stand out from the rest of my GK army. More importantly, though, it fits with the older color scheme presented way back in Index Astartes. My feeling is that a Grandmaster would have been serving for centuries, so his armor might be reflective of an earlier design and scheme. As always, C & C welcome!

would that by chance be an inquisitor model? Looks supurb! I really cant see any fault in it. Overall your shading and blending is totally dead on.

That's really nice, the sword hilt looks a little flat but it doesn't matter.

I am being over critical, but the rest of the pinting is awesome.

Whilst I like the painting (which is smooth and well executed) The conversion is very standard using the brother captain sterns body. Which in my opinion for grey knight grandmaster very very overused. Otherwise well done

I like it a lot. I especially like the trim on the bottom of the cloak and the attention spent on the lettering. Looks almost like a decal - very well done. Your whites look rich and well blended as well.

If anything perhaps some of the gold (such as on the bottom of the legs) - looks a bit undershaded compared to the sword. Maybe more highlights could be added to the base...

    Otherwise an outstanding looking model.

    Cheers,

    -Mike

I agree, which is why I did NOT use the Stern model. This model was based off of the standard Psycannon GK termy model, with greenstuffed tabard, cape and arm swaps. I drilled out the helmet, used a SM commander head, and greenstuffed the mustache.

As PROOF, here are some of the WIP shots:

Further, compare the chest piece and lack of targeter to the BC Stern model (here is the one I painted to use as a reference:

Sorry if I seem defensive, but in actuality, I agree that Stern gets way overused; which is why I worked so hard to do something unique.

@ Slorak - thanks for the kind words. I agree that the gold in the pic needs more pop. I will have to go back and re-shade it some (darn Dull-cote killed it more than I realized).

Ah... I didnt mean any offense, And being defensive is fine. The models do look different when compared nect to each other. Just the cape at the back and the way the psycannon was posistioned made it look a bit stern like to me.
