Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm currently in the process of assembling/painting a 2000 point eldar army. Much of it is assembled right out of the box (troops anyone?) but some models deserve a little extra attention. One of those models is the farseer.
At first I had no idea how I wanted to model him, but then I stumbled upon a picture of the high elf mage/archmage and thought "Hey, this would make a great base for a farseer!". Said and done, I went out and got the box, but then another problem arose. What head should I use? I searched far and wide, but in the end I fell for the head of one of the (relatively) new farseer models.
I ultimately ended up scavenging bits from quite a few eldar kits....anyway, here's a few pics:
And one a bit zoomed out, so you can get a look at the base. I really liked the gravity-defying rock base of the high elf mage kit but I wanted to make my own version. http://uk.games-workshop.com/highelv...e_Mage1_lg.jpg
Here's what I came up with:
and one from the back:
Any feedback and constructive critique is welcome !
That ugly moldline on the back of the helmet has already been taken care of, and the "wristband" thingy has been removed in order to be replaced with something else (I'm just not sure about what).
Thats a real neat idea you got there. Being as both races use the same gods it now means you can make plastic farseers. One thing though; Eldar farseers have rune armour and although the armour the model is wearing looks fancy it has a warrior feel to it rather than look at me i'm a psycher dude. Might want to greenstuff it but that would be hard work and require lots of patience for each bit of raised rune.
Overall a good model
Wish GW had the same imagination
I actually had a reeeeal long hard thought about that rune armor. I sorely miss it, and I'd really like to have some, but I'm quite crappy with green stuff, and in the end I settled for "Rather no rune armour than a really crappy one that can potentially spoil the overall look of the model.
Guess I'll just have to claim he's wearing the rune armour underneath that robe...
dont know if the elf sprues have this but somewhere around there must be small eldar/elf symbols representing runes of some type that you could maybe stick on the armour in places to give the appearance of rune armour
Also welcome to librarium Online
I'll look around. Rest assured, it's a W.I.P until I deem it perfect.
