So I'm curious what you people do to finish a model.
Typically, I brush on a coat of vallejo gloss varnish. Then I brush on vallejo matte varnish. Then I spray on Testor's Dull Cote. I use the gloss for protection (I've been told it's a tougher varnish and more resistant to scrapes and such than matte).
I typically use purity seal to stat with. I then use matt varnish on anything that should not be reflective such as clothing, rocks etc. I then add gloss varnish to goey parts. I paint alot of Tyranids so my models have plenty of goey bits that need attention. For extra goey bits (tongues etc) I add a small coat of water effects to make it extra slimy. There are also a variety of things I do to bases after I varnish, applying static grass or water effects for ponds and other random things.
Two coats Krylon Crystal Clear Gloss, one coat DullCote. I only use brush on varnish for doing decals etc, or the occasional glossy bit on a mini.
well i have only ever used a finish on one model. and it was one coat of testers dull coat....i feel even more lazy than normal now
