Now this will be my first BIG terrain project.I need help with ideas how would I get that camp the one that was overrun in Starship troopers one and three. What resources should I use and how and were to aqquire them. Thanks for you help
thats all I need?
WEll you gave us a very vague description of what you want to do, a project like that is going to require a lot of materials and if you're asking us what to get, then maybe you should start with some smaller projects first. I know fo the base you're talking about but a picture or two might be nice for reference.
But yeah you're going to been plasticard, tubes, some cardboard boxes and such, more plasticard, plastic glue, white glue, pink insulation foam, and lots and lots of bits. If you have specific questions about certain structures I can better help you out.
Yeah, sorry about the vagnus. Its not that I dont know what to get but more on the side of what other gamers want in a base.My whole gaming group has givin me there ideas, but I need more I want to make this a showpieace in a battle. With that being said any considerations will be very helpful to me.
What I want in the base is this
-2 story walls with ramps going up to the stands
-4 gun nest around the edges, unless I make it into a diffrent shape
-it taking up at least a 3rd of a 6 by 4 table
-To have it really detailed with tyranid bodies strewn here and there along with imperial guardsmen and the occasional marine
-A crashed Leman russ into a side wall with a big bio plasma score on its side
-Around 5 barracks within the base
-And a comms tower
This is the only decent overview screen capture I could get from Starship Troopers 1. It's technically not a military base, but it's the same building materials as the military base. At the very least, it'll give an idea of what the military "fort" looks like. Because it's not a military base, it doesn't have much in the way of defences (ie guntowers), but the walls are the same, and so are most of the buildings/hangers/tents inside the walls.
Personally I think it'd be a more impressive piece of terrain than the fort, because the fort is rather boring

Sounds like a great project mpdscott, keep us posted with your progress!
Just a thought - If you make the base modular, might it be more adaptable to your gaming needs? In making a number of walls, and a number of separate turrets that can be assembled as you need them, your terrain would see more use in more scenerios.
I'm thinking build several sections of wall - to come together in the same way as the 'Warhammer Seige' kits did. Gun turret placements could be made individually, and placed wherever you liked from game to game. The same goes for each building.
With a project so big, I think it would be a good thing for you to be able to enjoy the terrain as you make it, instead of having to wait a long time for the huge final piece to be complete.
This way, you will be constantly rewarded and encouraged with the adulation of your fellow gamers
Plus, if you make it modular its easier to transport, and I think something this awesome should be shared(or shown off ;-)
For the greater good, my will be done!
