Im looking for some model trees which match those seen in alot of the VC and DE back drops for WHFB--- does anyone know any stores which do large leafless trees?
Well, Games Workshop does have a nice box with three plastic trees of superb quality. You can build them with leaves or leave them without leaves, as you prefer. I quite like that terrain piece, and in fact I may buy a couple more...
GW's trees are a good start, though you can also use woodland scenics tree armatures. They are plastic trees with out the leaves on them yet that you can bend and shape as you see fit.
In don't know any stores, but GW has some good tutorials to making yer own:
Damn, the site seems to be down atm... You'll have to check yourself later, it's just on the site, under the beasts of chaos
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

Awww I remember this tutorial, pure badass. Wish I had some trees like that in my yard in real life. Rep for finding the article on the new site
I have heard that drift wood is good for making evil looking trees.
If you want some really great evil trees then I found that tree roots work fantastic. They're bulbous and gnarly and come in every conceivable shape. Clean well, cut to size, paint black and then shades of browns and grays, with some white drybrushing.
Of course if you live in a city that might be hard to find >.<
