I recently painted an Assault on Black Reach box set and churned out the orks in about a week.
I was fairly happy with the result (given the umber of models and the time frame) and thought I'd share my method with you.
It's pretty simple stuff- Firstly clean up and glue the model. Then spray black.
The next bit is just block colours with foundation paints. I can't rave enough about the foundation paints if you're keen to paint an army quick. This seems to be the direction GW is taking their paint range and leaving all the gimmicks and tools (flow retardants, glaze mediums etc) to vallaejo and others.
Here I've used Gretchin Green, Khemri Brown and Calthan Brown plus Chainmail on the metal bits. I picked out the teeth with Dheneb stone but you can also leave this until later.
With all the block colours done I've slapped on a heavy coat of the GW washes. Thraka Green on the skin and Devlan mud on everything else, even the metals. Keeping it down to just two washes saved some time.
Pretty much done at this stage- just tidying up and details. I picked out eyes and teeth and added some mouth colour if it was necessary. Also picked out any bits of jewellery I might have missed either with metal for bullets and ear-rings or dheneb stone for teef. Then I drybrushed the base with Khemri Brown and added some flock. Jobs done!
I did these in groups of 10 and was able to get them done in only a few hours. I'll add some unit photos when I get a chance.
It's also worth noting that if you want to go further at this stage then go for it- add some highlights or patterns to the armour. I just needed to get these to a table-top standard and quick!
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
wow, this method is great thanks for putting this on I have officially been inspired

Se, this is exactly the kind of articles / demonstrations that they should be running in the GW stores. With a pre painted miniature, you could knock something like this out (having models in different stages so you don't have to wait for dry time) in about 30 minutes, just the attention span required for retail.
Well done! they look quite good for your intended goal. Can we get a photo of all of them? especially one from say, just below standing-at-the-table height?
Well done man! Simple, but effective. And its funny kings88mob; at the local hobby shop I work at, we do the exact procedure you described; we have fve of the exact same space marine, one assembled, one primered, one with base colurs etc, in a line, to show people. I just did that up last week lol.
