Hi guys i'm trying to get into making some terrain and whatnot, but i can't find a place that sells Polystyrene, like the Pink Blocks you see GW use, i even tryed Home Depot they have nothing that i can use in that Department. I was wondering if anyone knows a website that may sell modeling supplies of this nature, i couldn't find it in any Sticky sadly =(
All Home Depots should have it... It comes in huge 2'x8' sheets though. Check in the insulation dept (usually next to lumber). Sometimes its pink, sometimes its blue. If you can't find it ask someone that works there for pink insulation foam (not the fiberglass insulation).
Hope that helps.
Was going to ask at some point myself.
I know that fiberglass insulation is super awful for one's health, so is there any precautions to take with the foam?
If you're cutting it with a wire cutter it'll produce smoke... I imagine it can't be good to breathe too much of that in. Also it's probably not a good idea to eat the foam. Other than that I don't think it's very hazardous.
REally home Depot doesnt have any, thats odd. Check again, its called high density insulation foam in the industry and is usually located with the drywall and such in the lumber department. If that fails then ill have to get back to you. But where do you live, that type of foam is rather hard to come by in certain parts of he USA.
Which item is it there? Theres so many and not all have pictures.
And, can you order online from them? I cant see an option to do that.
It was a while ago when I ordered but I thin i might have rang up. sorry you cna't order online... My mistake.
Well.... i feel like an idot.
depending on what the foam is made out of it can be ok to use in an open area, but i've worked in a theatre were we cut a lot of foam where we have to wear resperators if we're cutting for more then 5 mins because it produces cyanide gas, if you use a razor to cut everything you should be fine, also if you use a file to shave down the foam, the small bits that fly around are ok to they just make one heck of a mess
