Hay guys a mate of mine who dose not use the internet told me of an idea the other day he is going to build a Tyranid army that has fur.
Now I can not see such an idea working but I though I would ask you guys on the forum can you guys see such a army working and if anyone has ever seen it done before could you post pics.
With thanks munch
I could see it happening.
GSing fur isn't so difficult. Or he could glue flock to the bodies (not all over of course) and paint it along with the rest of the model.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
I suppose Tyranids could be furry. They are typically made with bat-like wings when they have wings that is, but insecty wings work on them too. So I think breaking the mould and doing fur would be an interesting idea. Tyranids are generally known for drooling alot and being slimy. Their fur could be all gooey looking and done to look sticky.
I don't know if it would really fit them that well... They are meant to adapt and evolve really quickly to suit their environments, I guess if you could justify the fur (to cope with cold they are cold blooded usually) then it would suit them. It would be interesting to see how it looked.
I wouldn't make the entire models furry though, maybe just the undersides and leave the carapace as it is. Or they could even have longish (pointy?) fur on the carapace and the underside just flesh, that might look cool too.
I think the method would really depend on how much effort he wanted to put in and where and what sort of fur he is aiming for. Could just use flock, or could go as far as modelling it with GS. That may be a pain considering how many nids in an army though.
