Does anyone have any tips for painting word bearers, what colours they use, how they paint, as I dont know what paints to get and how to paint word bearers.
try and check codex csm
yeh but thats too general and my store said not to use ink.
If you read white dwarf or know someone to borrow it from, there is a nice guide for painting them in one of the issues. One of their journalists(Matt Hutson) is a word bearers player. If no one jumps into this topic and tells you wich issue, you could ask in the White Dwarf section of the forum.
My own experience with painting dark red is that you need at least three coats of paint. One or two coats of red gore or scab red over a black undercoat becomes to dark and dull. One or two coats over white becomes to bright and shiny. I would suggest you go for the black undercoat, three coats of scab red, then highlight with a mix of scab red and white, then give it a chestnut ink wash. This should make them nice and gritty, not the candy red it's easy to end up with.
You've not picked an easy legion to paint!

Or you could paint a Black+scab red (1:2 or 1:3) mix over black undercoat then highlight it with drybrushed scabred then lightly drybrushed blood red.
After this add some shiny details (gold for example) and you're done..

Please do not get annoyed on my spelling: i am not a native speaker...
Actually the Gore Red and Magenta ink combo does produce the color they show in the codex, i've tried it.
It's not Raymond Luxury Yacht, It's pronounced throat wobbler mangrove.

My elvish name is Maeglin Meneldur.
what do you mean by combo, do you mix them or paint magenta ink over red gore? And what undercoat?
I'm very curious as I've experienced dark reds as extremely difficult to work with.

I have to admit that I haven't seen the Word Bearers in the codex, but when I want a dark red I undercoat white (I ALWAYS undercoat white) and paint over that with thinned scab red. It doesn't matter if its a bit washed out. Then I ink with black and "wetbrush" with more scab red. If I want to be fancy I brush on a little of a brighter red on top, I don't know which red I use, just that it's brighter than scab :)
I think I have to take a look in the codex though, I haven't seen anyone use magenta ink yet.
EDIT: is it these guys?
