Sorry to post such a noobish question, but I'm fairly new at all this.
I'm trying to find a colour guide for paiting my bases, much the same as this here -
How to Make Basic Warhammer Bases | Warhammer | Warhammer 40K | Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Games
But, instead of having the "terrocotta" look, I'm after something a bit more green&brown, its for my Orcs and goblins army.
Just wondering if anyone knows what colours I should be using to wash/drybrush with for a more, "out in the muddy fields/forest floor look".
Or at least I think I should be going for a more "greeny brown base" for my O&G.
Is it a better technique to base coat over the sand, or use washes like in that link?
And for the sides of the base, what is the closest colour to say, the standard flock colour of warhammer table tops?
Edit - And if anyone knows where I can find any detailed painting guides on O&G, that'd be awesome I'm just not sure of what colours I should be basecoating/washing/drybrushing with.

Hi, me again!
Sand is always a good one to get a bit of texture on the base- I use bestial brown with devlan mud wash. After that, its just a case of sticking a bit of static gass and Hey! Presto! A base!
So, use PVA glue (or superglue) to fix sand to the base. If you use PVA, give it a second coat over the top once the first is dry.
Basecoat bestial brown.
Wash Devlan Mud.
PVA on some static grass.
As for painting guides, if you look on ebay for the old army books there's some useful tips in there, especially the previous one (it has an orc in side shot with its head turned to face forwards, but body facing rightish on the cover. He's also holdins an axe.
Also try the O+G collectors guide, there's some cool stuff in there if you can get hold of it.
Don't suppose you have a picture of what that base turns out like do ya mate?
Well, already sanded my bases, was waiting to find out what I should do regarding coats and wash.
I'll go pick some static grass up tomorrow, and throw some of that on top of it it all after painting
Got the new O&G army book, but no colour guides as such. I can look at pictures, but I can't get the the colours from just looking.
Guess I'm gonna stick with Games Workshop as a guide.
Thanks for the reply.

Thats really up to you. If you want your guys to be in an artic enviroment, it would be white with some grey, ect. Same as if you were in a desert, ect ect so on. So it really comes to your preference.
