Someone tell me please the alternatives paints for inking and paints in general to GW RO paints?
Army » « Necrons » « Tyranids
I use these inks instead of GW ones. http://www.chromosart.co.uk/catalog/...20N%20Inks.JPG
They are winsor and newton inks and it is well worth getting a few. They can be very strong though and will greatly deepen the colours on a model, but they are very good. Most arts and crafts stores will have them.
GW alternatives? Tons of options.
From Mini-specific companies, there's several different lines from Vallejo, Privateer Press has their P3 lineup (which doesn't appear to have a website ATM...), and Reaper has their Pro Paints and Master Series lines.
From the world of general modelling, Testors has their basic Testors brand, Model Master and Model Master II, Floquil, Pactra and Polly Scale. Humbrol makes good paints, as well as Tamiya. Gunze Sangyo is another big name, but they've apparently pulled out of North American markets, so it's hard to get their stuff these days.
And then there's the artist's paints and craft paints. There's all sorts of brands for these, just check out your local arts and crafts stores. They're not quite as straightforward to use as purpose made model paints, but they still work well with a bit of work.
