Welcome to Librarium Online!
ok so ive been thinking of a cool paint scheme for my tyranids...and it came to me... i could paint them like tigers. the bengal tigert has the bottom half of its body white...and the top half orange.. both parts have the black stripes. or maybe i could do white tigers. so i was thinking doing the flesh white with the black stripes.. and the carapace's orange with black stripes. any advice?
Sounds wicked! Sounds time consuming, but wicked. I think it would be neat going with mainly the bengal colouring, and then have your hormagaunts be white tiger coloured.
Any way you could post a photo once you complete a test paintjob? I would love to see this.
That does sound like it could be good. You should consider highlights and shading too as you do it. The shading and highlights will change the effect of the stripes. I think you should do any shading you need before the stripes. The stripes are black and so will be darker than the shading. If you do the shading first the shading might seem to cover the darker stripes. Any highlights you do could be done before or after the stripes depending on if you think they will work as a highlight or interfere with the effect of the stripes.
what i was thinking was spray basing them white... then going over them with a brown wash in the cracks...then doing the plates and stripes
The color scheme is very unique and different. If you can pull it off i think you will have a very unique army.
I think this will look really cool, as much as I have tried I can't find an image to help you out.
Good luck though! It should look wicked.
LOL TIGERNIDS!!! what a fun sounding army to start nice idea!

Check out my Flood Army
well im goin from playing Legion of the damn painted army ...with infiltrate, tank hunter, and vehicles... to a 120 model tigernid army.
Black, bone and orange to, er, black bone and orange . Seems like a good idea, will be easier to judge when you've tried out the scheme on a few test models. I'd like to see how they turn out, so will be looking forward to progress .
