I love the effect dipping gives, especially on Tyranids, but I was wondering if it would do anything for my Cryx models? They're painted in the traditional style, but the black is just primer so it has a lighter look to it than Chaos or Thamar Black.
I'll probably test it out anyways on one of my extra deathrippers, but I'd still like opinions.
Personal opinion of course, but I wouldn't do it. Dipping is best suited to 'organic' looking models (Tyranids being a perfect example!) Cryx minis have a tremendous amount of detail compared to GW (or anyone's) rank 'n file plastic models that the dip will kill. One of the great joys of Warmachine is you don't have to paint the same model 50 times to have an army. 15-20 models, almost all different or at least different poses, and you're set! Seems a shame to short change them with a speed painting technique.
Maybe I'm just prejudiced.
