    Glue softening

My freind is giving me an old Ork boar rider from Warhammer Fantasy to use as a flag bearer in my 40k army (since they are the blood boarz clan, it is only suiting). I am planning to replace its melee weapon arm with an extra gun arm I have, but I don't know what to do to weaken the glue so I can remove the original arm. I was thinking nail polish remover, but I am worried that will melt the model. What should I use that won't endanger the model?
