Welcome to Librarium Online!
I like the AoBR box set, and plan to use the marines in my army (I'll mix em in. Nobody'll notice), but I notice they have the raised marking on the shoulder pad. What have you done with these? I'm a little miffed because they'll stick out in my army, since I don't use them on anything else. What's the best way to remove them? Am I gonna have to finally break out the Dremel? I'm loathe to try this, since I have nothing to brace either the Dremel or the model with, so I envision all sorts of scary stuff happening if I try to grind the symbols off.
This isn't much help, but how many marines did you get, and how many tact squads are you running? I'm using 20 AoBR marines and 20 regular at the moment, and it doesn't look out of place by any means. Mind you I keep them squaded up. . .
I only have 10, and I plan to run three tac squads and 10 devastator missile guys.
I honestly don't think you'd have a problem with them sticking out if only 1/3 of your guys have tactical markings. Maybe to the decerning eye your heavy weapon guy might look different (should you choose something other than a Missile launcher), but I doubt that's a problem.
If you're hell bent on getting them off, knife off the main portions or chunks before you try to grind it out smooth with a dremel.
Have you tryed making a mold from them with green stuff? Then you can go back and put arrrows made raised with green stuff to match them. My bf's useing this Idea for his crimson fists shoulders, bought one set of shoulders just to make a mold.
Tomb Kings, Marines, Eldar
Since I'm repainting my entire SM army, I figured I would do the same as Zora suggests.
