Ok guys, I'm stuck for Honour Guard Relic Blade ideas.
Cos I'm a lazy bum, I've put it all down on video:
YouTube - Honour Guard Model Suggestions
ok so a couple things i thought of.
#1 bitz barn or any similar site will have tons of bitz for you.
#2 green stuff, need i say more?
#3 just wondering but what will the paint scheme be for your chapter?
#4 brettonian stuff from warhammer is very knightly and if you find a place to get brettonian bitz, first tell me so i can get some, then add them to your models for added knightly affect.
spacy_marine pretty much listed your best bets..
just are you looking for all the blades to be the same?
because to make it easier to acquire bits and whatnots, you could incorporate a range of different weapons (each counting as a Relic Blade), such as morning stars, maces, poignard & rapiers, an axe or two, etc etc ... you could even invent your own.
i'd also strongly insist the inclusion of storm shields... very knightly.
even better (in my opinion) would be to have the entire honour guard mounted on bikes, armed with lances and forthwith.
care to post any conception art of yours? or pics of the minis?
I'm not entirely sure how you like or dislike international orders but thewarstore.com is a good place to get some bits here in the states (and currently GBP is a higher value currency than the American Dollar).
Going for a knightly theme as you are, I am surprised you picked up the dark angel box and not the Black Templars bitz sprues, there's a nice powersword in that set that I think would be something like what you're going for.
If you have a friend who wants a mordheim warband (I myself recently picked up the Sisters of Sigmar warband), there's an accessory sprue that comes with them including a treasure chest, belt pouches and scrolls, as well as one greatsword. I would suggest picking up that greatsword and using greenstuff casting techniques (there's an article on it at coolminiornot.com i think) to duplicate that one part.
If you're wanting to go for a more gaming-oriented view of paladins, I suggest trying to find a buddy who recently picked up some Empire Knights, great weapons are currently fairly useless on mounted units if that unit also has the option to take lances, so you could probably get some great hammers (paladins and clerics traditionally using blunt weapons in D&D and such).
Thanks for the input guys!
We Are Legion:
There's a few bits sites in the UK, so I'll try them. With the test models, I used the Runefang from the empire General and I think it works rather well.
New video update: Captains and Honour Guard
YouTube - Space Marine Captains
Wow loveing the captains they are so cool!!!!
hounour guard look coll to but i think they all need the same type of helm to givesome unity also i like the useage of the empire sword i think there great more than worthy of my REP...
Sadly im not alloud to rep you at the moment...
click>the warhammer world needs you!<click
If someone helps you REP them...
great job on all the captains! love the heroic and some dynamic poses.
Something you might want to consider is giving one or two honor guard a pose that still has their sword sheathed (there's one backpack in the dark angels bitz that is a sheathed sword, there's also plastic sheathed swords in the black templars bitz.
IF you aren't picky about a part of your model being non-citadel minis, check out reaperminis, they've got some weapons packs that you may be interested in.
If you ARE picky about that, you may want to get some plasticard/greenstuff or brown stuff/green stuff and sculpt your own swords.
check out my reply on youtube... I think that you will be happy with it.
Awesome, I now have a good idea for the honour guard! DA bodies with BT Mk IV torsos and Mk V III helms. I shall post pics in my project thread: Knights of the Silver Sword; A Chapter
