    Ork Taster

Hey folks, I'd like to post the following mini in search of advice. Only just creeping back into the hobby, after an 18-24month break, so any tips would be greatly appreciated. I picked up a large number of AOBR Orks this week and have had a go at painting for the first time in well over a year. To be honest, I'm quite please with the result.

My main aim was to try colours and whatnot, and am feeling happy about what I've managed to produce, even though it is rather typical. Feel free to comment and pretty much say what you want. ^^

    Thanks for looking,

    Pierced53

TYPICAL, OH HUSH YOU!!! it looks good, me like lots. the blade looks pretty kewl with the rusty effect and the clothe looks fine too. maybe just add a wash to the skin and clothes to give more depth and ur golden.

    nice work!

I agree you should put a wash over the skin tones. Looks quite good. (Orks eyes are meant to be red but don't worry)

    The model looks quite glossy

    Good work

Looks good over all, skin in patches looks blotchy mostly on the face.

very good job with the flesh, but i think the metals need a bit of work on them... whether it's shading or weathering, i just don't like seeing a big untouched patch of metallic. maybe a little bit of the same on that snakebite leather. since both seem to stand out by themselve and detract from the rest of the model.

...A blog that's mostly about Infinity, but sometimes other stuff too.

The skin is good, but the metals seem awfully clean for an ork.
Personally I'd go with a grittier metal, maybe working my way up to chainmail from tinbitz, with boltgun metal inbetween? (could do more, but would take too long on a trooper).

Also, the whole model seems muted, the skin is sorta pale and the leathers are very downtoned, I think it could need something striking, to make it pop.

Looks great! Don't get in the habit of spending this amount of time on all your Orks though... You'll be at it for years

I'm very grateful for the comments guys. :] Thank you, dead.dude.walking, for pointing out the eyes. Fixed that up no problem. ^^

I've made the metals grittier too, because in retrospect I can agree and say they were waaay too clean for an Ork. XD

I'm hoping to get some pictures up soon of the second attempt and the rest of his mob. (:

Green Wash on the skin would be awesome. I also like seeing blood all over the Choppahz, but that's just me. besides that, it looks sweet!
