Im looking at doing a complete ICE WORLD / frozen wastes board. The snow is not the problem here, what Im wondering about is the best way to create glaciars and frozen mountains.
I had in mind having a Necron Pyramid sort of thing embedded in ice - just parts of it jutting out...
Any recommendations or ideas on how to achieve an ICE / GLACIER would be welcome.
Blue foam. the thick insulation foam...stacked, glued and then shaped with a sharp sharp blade or a foam cutter. The cuts and fissures in the ice glaciel will lend itself well to the foam cutter's finished product.
Stuck them , make some clifs of ice...make some snow drift ramps..uneven the board a bit with some vertical pieces.
Rome wasn't built in a day, Either should good scenery.
Admittedly not tried and tested, just an idea, but maybe try mixing some Ice Blue paint with some PVA glue and see how it looks when dry. Id expect a pale light blue, shiny finish, may be good for ice
If you have access to the equipment or know someone who has experience, try using applying fibreglass on the glacier parts after painting, it has the smooth texture of ice and you don't have to worry about it being damaged later. Just remember to use a mask, those fumes are dangerous!
awesome idea's... i've started planning and sketching the table out. As soon as I have it together (the plan i mean) I will post it.
Thanks for the picture of the blue foam board.
My biggest weakness is going to be painting the board... my painting skills are SUCKY.
I want to try achieve that inner blue hazy glow especially round the glacier embedded pyramid...
