    Badger airbrush question(s)

    Howdy,
Many moons ago I purchased a Badger 155-7 airbrush, along with a Thayer & Chandler Air Star V Compressor, and I am inquiring to a piece that I'm pretty sure I had back then but no longer am able to find.

In the picture above the piece that I am missing is the 'V' shaped thimblish-kettle looking item in the bottom right. What I am wondering is what this piece is, for as though it is listed in the documentation under the parts list (only a part number, 50-0482) it is not mentioned in the instructions. I've also tried looking for it on some parts websites and I have not been able to find it there either.

My only other question is with the airbrush and the compressor what other items might I be needing? I figure some sort of mask to wear while using it and additional jars for any paints that I may mix but that is all I can come up with. Any help is appreciated.

It's a gravity feed paint cup, pretty much. It plugs into the same place as those bottles.

I'll assume I don't need it then as my airbrush is a bottom feed brush, unless I'm missing some connector to attach the two together.

I do have some additional moving boxes to unpack, maybe with luck it could be in the bottom of one of those and I can mess with that too.

    Thanks for your reply.

I think its for special techniques or something, I'm not 100% certain.

I'm pretty sure it's a paint cup. Good for smaller amounts of paint. But I don't think it's a gravity feed paint cup, since it sucks the paint out of the bottom and up the tube. A gravity feeded cup sits on top of the airbrush.

I think its some sorta combo-then; the cup sits with the tube on the bottom, so to some extent gravity will assist in making sure all the paint gets to the tube.
I dunno. I need more airbrush lessons.

If so then the glass jars are also gravity fed...

    You're gonna want that piece.

Its not a gravity feed. Both the thimbles and the jars work off the Venturii principle (they suck the paint up into the sir stream.) Believe me, you want that piece. It allows you to use small amounts of paint at a time. Otherwise you have to mix up a fair amount of paint to make the jars worthwhile.
Side note. Masks are for sissies. If you're using GW paints in a ventilated area you really don't need any real protection. Just make sure you have the brush pointed the right way!
