Heres my attempt at converting some hormagaunts to gargoyles
I wanted to make a flying unit which didnt have the ugly stick coming out of its chest.
The wings are made of plasticard. Im not sure if im happy with the effect. Ill see when ive painted them. Otherwise i might buy the open harpy wings that are on GW bitz catalog.
Otherwise i dont think their are many other options for wings! Interested in other peoples opinions though on what they have used...
These other 2 arnt really much of a conversion. This old style lictor has now become my new broodlord, after having warrior rending claws and hormies scythes attached.
I wanted to add some scenery to the base because it is a HQ, but since the base is so small, my greenstuffed tyranidy plant things look like hes just gone to the toilet and taken a dump ... oh well ...
I bought this 'incomplete' red terror off ebay for a really good price, all it needed was some hormagaunts and warriors scything talons to replacing the metal one which were missing. Ahh, i love finding a good deal off ebay!
This model is just so awesome looking. Its a shame they didnt include it in the latest codex. I wonder why ..
The wings will definately need more texturing I think. You could easily add ribs to it using thin rolls of greenstuff along the top and through it (like bat wings) No idea what you would do for a more insectoid look.
Other conversions look great however, always great to see a red terror as well.
The conversions look good. The wings look good and could use some texture that way don't look so smooth. You can also bend the plasticard to give the wings a sense of motion.
I like the shape of the wings, they just need some texture, but otherwise they look really great. I love the conversion.
For the wings- Genestealer Scything Talons, with greenstuff membranes.
Well ive quickly basecoated my gargoyle, and i agree, the wings do need a bit of texture.
Ill go about adding some greenstuff and repost later.
Unfortunately i dont have any of those at the moment, so ill give fixing my current wings a go, if that doesnt turn out, ill buy a box of genestealers so i can steal their arms !
That painted Gargoyle looks very good. I think the moth/butterfly effect you have on it is cool looking. It would be great if you could do a winged Hive tyrant like that. The use of the old Lictor to do a Broodlord is a very good use for that model. The Broodlord model is rather dodgy and requires lots of work to get it good looking.
I love that Trygon? How did you do it? I have always wanted to make one out of a Carnifex.
What are the stats on a Trygon anyway?
