ok what I'd like to know is how to properly paint a winter themed unit (for wood elves). what color for a base coat, top coat, dry brushing or not? does anyone have any pictures as a reference i could use? basically any suggestion from people who have attempted this would be great.
This guide (Clicky!) by the inimitable minus-t is for Space Marine power armour, but I think you could easily adapt the technique to painting, say, white cloaks. If you don't want pure white, you could adjust the colors you use to finish with, say, Space Wolves Grey or something like that instead.
that helps a little bit, alot of very much steadilly lighter layers would work wonders for cloaks and such. however by all means please ppl send more comments. in particular wardancers and waywatchers!
Alright- here's what I would do.
Pale skin: reflects the lack of sunshine during winter.
Blond hair: complements the blue outfits.
Base: a standard blue, faded, periodot?
Highlight: ice blue, definitely drybrush this around the edges and on the creases.
Blade: silver would complement the outfit well.
