Hey guys and girls,
with my first 500 points assembled and ready for painting I'm looking for colours for my models. It's going to be a autumn themed style army. Mostly because I love the fallen leaves. so in order to get this theme I was thinking of the following colours to be the basecoat and highlight colour for my dryads.
Off course other suggestions are more then welcome. also suggestions or tips how to take these colours to the Elf models would be greatly apreciated.
I think those look good. For some variation you could mix differing amounts of grey into the basecoat or highlight to bring out that autumn-ny look Just my thoughts
Looking forward to seeing the results!
thanks Inquisitor Blackadder, It's going to be my first real full scale paint project in a long lng time so it's a bit hard to get it going.
oh and by the way I'm also doing the glowing eyes on all my models to get a haunted feel to my army something I love to see. and yes all my models also means the Elves. they are going to be scary enough to life up to the reputation of the Mind altering Elves
nice to see that you are continuing with your project after the very impressive battle report and other pics of your army. (;
the colours above look great to me. autumn is a great choice since it allows you to incorporate a number of other [bright] colours like reds and yellows into your scheme, which can be especially beneficial on characters and army centre pieces. As Inquisitor Blackadder mentioned beforehand, it also allows colours at the other end of the spectrum such as greys and numerous darker colours. I think it will work really well for you as long as you don't add anything too far-fetched to your pallet.
best regards, wishing you the best with the project,
Thanks chris it's commetns like yours that make posting and sharing your hard work with others .
I just had some talk with David asswel he adviced me to take desert yellow and bleachbone instead of the snakebite leather. (adding some grey to the dessert yellow to get it into the same colour tone) but all in all I think these colours will wrok well with me goal of making glowing eyes and they greyish tint is something I ike in combanation with reds and oragnes
So basecoat with and Highlights

Spunds promising dude!
I have respect for you. In 13 years of doing this hobby I have never had the guts to go all out on a large scale painting project. Man I gotta change >.< hehe
I love the idea of glowing eyes, in fact I don't think a dryad should be unless it has glowing eyes
yeah and with glowing eyed elves on their side it's going to be one scary ass enchanted forest
Are you planning to use brighter colors on the leaves? I think the darker colors you've chosen will look good for your theme as long as they have something bright to help bring them out. Without a brighter accent somewhere I'd be worried that everything could look too dark.
Also, I've just discovered your modeling thread and I have to say that your models are gorgeous - I can't wait to see some paint on them!
Thanks a Bunch xbanditsx a lot of love and attention has gone into the models allready. yeah will use Bright blues as the glow colours on the eyes, arrows and spites. the leaves allready on the models will be red orange and yellow, nice autumn colours I'd say. still have to see I'f I'm going to add more colous to the bark to bring out some more Bark parts.
p.s. you did some great work on your models aswell one of the reasons I choose Wood Elves as my first WE army your different paint schemes on your dryads are still Awesome!!!
