I am re-painting my space marines and was wondering if anyone had some good advice for painting the leather pouches. What colours do you use and if possible, some pics please. Any help would be appreciated as I want the leather to look good, rather than flat colours. I dont want the leather to be the downpoint of the models. Thanks.
Sadly, I do not possess any pictures, as I do not have any Space Marines of which to paint their pouches. Depending on the shade of leather that you require, I would paint it black, then drybrush, working my way up to that brown, then some highlights in a lighter shade.
i use khemri brown then a wash of devlan mud. good worn leather. I'll get some pics later.

cant really see the picture very well but from what i can tell a dark brown with a light wash should make it look great

I painted a lot of leather when I was doing my Wood Elves and I used a Scorched Brown base with Dark Flesh highlights. It looks like this:
The effect isn't striking by any means but I think the subtlety works well since the leather wasn't supposed to be the focus of the model. There are a ton of other pictures in my Wood Elf thread if you'd like to see more.
