Are you nearsighted?
Are you farsighted?
Do you have 20/20 vision?
Do you wear glasses or contacts while you paint?
Do you use some sort of magnifying device, even just some of the time?
Do you listen to music?
Do you listen to the boobtube?
Do you paint 5 or more hours per week?
I'm very nearsighted. Without my glasses, I can only see clearly very close. Course, I tend to use this like a "poor man's magnifying glass" and just hold stuff up close. Works for me, but I've been meaning to ask the eye doctor if this is a good idea. I don't own a magnifier.
I had 20/20 vision not long ago, but had a bit of Optic Neuritis, which destroyed some of the vision in one of my eyes. Since then, I've used glasses and a bit of magnifying to try and work back to better painting. I also tend to work downstairs as much as possible in order to talk to my wife while she is doing her projects and such.
I extremely farsighted, I can see up to 30 cm in front of me then everything goes fuzzy. My vision aint even that good up close according to the doc
but I do wear contact lenses for most of the day, however whenever I wear contact lenses and try to paint or focus on something up close my vision goes all funny, so I normally have to wear glasses when painting. Luckily My glasses are nice and compact, not bulgy and bug-eyed!
I always listen to music when im painting, I lose focus way to easily on things I work on and therefore need music to keep me somewhat occupied.

Grow old or die trying...
I would have to say music is a must for me when I'm painting or modeling. It just sets the mood and makes everything go smoothly.
I got new glasses, but they're smaller when it comes to height, measuring from the bottom of the lens to the top. I wear my old ones to paint since I don't have to bend my neck as far.
I like listening to basketball or tv shows with good narrative. Or I'll listen to music.
When I paint I use two magnifying glasses and my reading glasses, not all at once of course. I use the big magnifier for tiny detail, my head mounted magnifier for regular detail and my glasses for over all. My eyesight ain't so bad but it's always good to see more!
I'm relatively short-sighted, but can paint with or without glasses. I usually only wear them (or contacts) when I would go to the cinema, concert or a sports match or something like that.
I usually have either music playing or the TV on when painting, as it helps me concentrate most of the time. :]
While on this topic, I would like to ask a question. Many people have told me that the more you wear glasses/contacts, the worse your eyesight becomes, as your eyes can become 'lazy'. However others have told me this is rubbish. Anyone able to clear up?
