    'Kong' Pattern Broadside

    Hello Everyone!

Firstly, my apologies for my lack of input into the forum of late. But due to the end of the school year for Christmas holidays I found myself again dusting off the old workbench and getting stuck into the hobby again.

So, my latest project has been the design and construction of an alternate broadside miniature for my Tau army, resulting in the 'Kong' Pattern Broadside. My original idea was for a battle suit with the form of a gorilla, and I used various pictures of the Iron Kong from the cartoon Zoids as inspiration.

    Here are some of my original, rough concept sketches (ignore the buzzy-bee in the middle);

And here is he finished model,

So what I’m really looking for here is feedback on the CONVERTING AND MODELLING aspect of the model, not the painting aspect, which is why I have posted this topic in the modelling sub-forum (and would much appreciate if it stays here).

Thank you in advance for all comments and constructive criticism.

    Cheers,
    Scott

    Now that...was cool...

I really like it. It's certainly different from the ususal Broadside. I love the drone, that looks ace. Maybe a little more highlighting on the paint might look good, just to give the painting a little more depth. Other than that I think it looks great!

Its an awesome conversion and I agree that the drone looks really good. I love the whole pose and idea of a gorilla broadside but I am not a huge fan of the head. It looks to small and weird. With such a bulky modell a small head like that really looks out of place.

I agree, it's head needs to be more chunky, like a gorilla's.

Great model, and nice initiativ on making it..
I'm actually a bit curious of the step-by-step progress of the model?

A unique and well executed conversion. Very cohesive. The head could use a bit of bulking up, my only suggestion for improvement.

The conversion is awesome, it looks much more stable than the stock model. Very well done.

I know you didn't want to have comments on the painting, but it was well done too.

And as the loosers on the motor finance wizard ad once said "I like it"

this would be good for a tau mech army. I've seen very good ones lately. search google for some inspiration.

Anyone else expect to see a dog toy converted to look like a broadside?

LOL! Sorry to go off topic there, but I felt it necessary to point this out...

To go on topic though, I really enjoyed the pictures, great looking conversion if I do say so myself!
