Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi. New to the forum, just got myself a really good base to start a Warriors of Chaos army.
x20 Chaos Marauders
x10 Chaos Warhounds
x12 Chaos Warriors
x5 Chaos Knights
x5 Plastic Marauder Horsemen
Chaos Lord on Demonic Mount
Khorne Chaos Lord on Juggernaut
Nurgle Chaos Sorcerer
Khorne Chaos Champion (on foot)
Wulfrik the Wanderer
Sigvald the Magnificent
Got it over 50% off via eBay. But that's beside the point.
I have pieces here for both an Chaos Undivided army, a Khorne army, and a Nurgle army. From a quick glance around there are gobs of Khorne armies. And Nurgle seems more interesting to me. So my questions:
- I am currently waiting from my army codex in the mail, but I was wondering if it makes sense for a Nurgle lord to ride a juggernaut within the game's mythos.
- I was also wondering if anyone attempted such a conversion - the lord would need a new helm and various other pieces that display the Khorne symbol. I imagine the juggernaut would need some sort of decay if I wanted to go into such detail. I could also purchase the Nurgle lord on the steed and swap him on, OR I could go to my local store and see if I could trade box for box (still sealed, so I think he would take it).
This is my second army ever (the first was over 5 years ago and has since been discarded). This will be my first highly-detailed army, using bases and washes. So I suppose my skill comes into question as well
I must admit, that even tho I love all convertions, the mythos of the Chaos Gods wouldn't really "allow" a mix of mounts per say.. The same with the rules, where a lord needs the right mark to get the mount in the first place..
That being said, I Do like the idea of a huge decaying, pestering mount for a nurgle lord.. and to give my 2cents, What about n enlarged boar, or Dire wolf... (I'll look for some models and figs that might work with this, just so I' not just throwing nuts at you..)
It goes as far as your imagination takes it... in order for a character to ride a juggernaut, he DOES have to have the Mark of Khorne (which, in game terms, gives him the frenzy rule). Note - there are no restrictions to mixing marks, so you can have all khorne heroes with all nurgle units if you wanted.
If you wanted to REPRESENT an army of nurgle, I would personally say do a "fallen angel" type conversion. That is to say, this hero of nurgle was once a champion of Khorne, who fell prey to a disease of the mind (possibly also explaining why he is still frenzied), betraying Khorne and swearing his loyalty over to Nurgle. Adding a few little conversion pieces (switching the helm is a good idea, and tacking on some of the nurgle symbols somewhere) as well as painting him sufficiently decayed would do the trick.
You could also play him as riding a palanquin of nurgle (which is nurgle's daemonic mount), but that would be one heck of a stretch.
Just some thoughts.
Sangren's idea actually sounds rather nice.. Fludd-wise I like it alot actually...
For convertion, you could add some extra muscle tissue on tyhe juggernaut, and such.. and paint it red, and mix it with oozing green colors...
Alternatively, you could maybe use this model from Hordes http://www.privateerpress.com/HORDES...picture&id=134
- Remove the backspikes, and add a saddle with greenstuff... This might be a bit too tyranid-ish, but yeah. jjust a thought..

Thank you both!
Yeah, I was trying for something unique, although that may be down the line if it takes a while to complete.
I think Sangren's idea could work. I would imagine as completing the model (more or less) as the usual Khorne figure. Then I could start doing washes and other effects until it looks like he used to be a Khorne lord, but now as the nice putrid green ooze over him that hides the bright red, making it a green-ish brown. Perhaps let a few sections of red stay clean, to show what he once was.
Like it says you can have gifts and items that you would think, and in 6th edition were, mark only.
a slaaneshi hero might fingd himself gifted by khorne after a particulaly brutal battle.
so your nurgle hero find himself with new jugger after a particulary brutal battle.
As much as I am willing to defend "fluff it out as you want it", that's a bit far to go with it, a juggernaut is a huge honor gifted to a champion of khorne, and isn't something he just throws around to someone who fought a good fight... but, that's just how i see it personally, so it's to each his own
I also would go fully nurgle colored with it, and avoid any use of khorne colors altogether, though I could see how the red coming through would be an interesting play on the idea. Either way, when you get it finished some day, post up some pics.
Thanks for all the help. I'm probably going to start a WIP thread in the forum (in the right area, of course).
As I said before, I'm probably going to paint my Khorne pieces (the on foot and jugger models) straight up as Khorne, then convert them when I feel I have warmed my skills up. It's been about 6 years since I've been in the hobby, so I'm no cofident that this would be a great tproject to start over with
but it is an exciting and unique peice to think about.
I think this sounds like a really cool idea and am very much looking forwards to seeing the results - good luck with this. If someone wanted to play a Nurgle-fied Jugger + to count it as a Daemonic Steed, I'd have no problem with it.
