So, I am having writers block of a sorts....only for paints. I need to paint a squad of 6 Eldar Rangers/Pathfinders. I use an Iyanden Craftworld color scheme for my army in general, so dark blues, black, and rich yellows mostly.
My problem is, I have no idea what color to paint their cloaks to make them look good while still mantianing my overall army color scheme, at least in part. So far, I have tried painting the portions of their armor that are visible dark blue and their cloaks the color on the GW site, but that didn't turn out so good. Probably because medium grayish/green and dark blue don't go well together.
The bases of my army are done with a light brown sand with green flock grass patches if that helps at all.
Any idea? I was kind of thinking either dark blue under armor and a black cloak or dark blue under armor and a white/beige/bleached bone cloak. Do either of those sound decent? Thanks in advance for the brainstorming help.
well, first things first, which table top\scenery do you mostly play on?
my local gw's store army is iyanden. The capes are scorched brown highlighter with bestial. The armour on the inside is the same colour as your guardians/wraithguard/wraithlord (yellows) with blue spiritstones. The head is also yellow. The guns are the standard iyanden guns.
just some food for thought, I tried to paint the cloaks a ncie blue on my rangers...not a great idea, then again, my painting skills phail.
GOOD LUCK =D
I think the black and blue scheme could work, but the bone/cream colour does work surprisingly well with blue. Personally I would got for these colours. depending of course whether or not you paint the armour blue.
Blue cloaks do fail horribly (not even camoflauge!), eaither dark browns and lighter brown blotches or perhaps dark and light grre's with black or bestial highlights
Ahh paint them black with grey splotches (don't bother with highlights
