Sooo...this time last year i started an eldar army and painted it absolutely patheticaly. So ive decided to repaint the lot. Ive completed a squad of avengers which i believe are sub par, a squad of scorpions which are probably average, a squad of howling banshees that are average and my wriathlord.
My problems lie in highlighting i believe, eldar models need a lot IMO, so im just wondering what colour combinations (ie. basecoat, overcoat, highlights) people have done their aspect warriors in aspect colours and hoping for any tips people could give someone whos only been painting a year.
it really matter on what colors you choose for your army like in mine i went for a forest defender team so i started with dark agnels green of black spray coat then i shaded goblin green over with the iner receses left dark angel green. after this i further layered or shaded scropian green on top whith both colors showing slightly. then i shaded with a 75% white and 25% scropian green mix on the outer most edges.
for elder you dont nessescarly need to highlight you more often pull out a better paint job by layers and then jus highlight corners and outer most edges its fast and affect XD
still take me like 1 month to finish a squad dam me and being lazy and not painitng till the last 2 day before tournys XD. k ya itl take you 2-3 days of dedicated time to musterout table top quality not much and it all depends on your color scheme. so start from dark go to middle then lightest and highlight with white or a mix of white and lightest color that what i do and people get blown away XD
i have a question for u guys... does everybody really keep up with the real colors of the eldars??? or some of u decided to change things a bit... i dont mean crazy colors but just changing it a bit.. like changing avenger to something else then blue if yes, tell me what colors and maybe if u have some pictures.. post them
a lot of people paint their aspect warriors differently, i just chose to paint mine codex colors ^^

i like the aspect colors, but maybe i change them to be darker or something.
when i paint my scorpions for example i use dark angels green followed by blended snot, then pure snot, after tat it's goblin green blends, thenpure gblin green and last i blend it white a bit of skull white. vuala, you have a nice scorpion armour.
Feel free to modify the aspect colours a bit, many people change parts to fit in with their overall schemes, some limit the change to certain small parts whilst others end up focussing on fitting into the main army. I've seen some great aspect warriors painted in schemes which look almost completely different to the 'codex' look and they've turned out really well. I agree with Farseer_Matt's post and encourage you to look around CMoN as it's a great site with plenty of inspirational figures.
I still happen to have some Warp Spiders and Swooping Hawks around somewhere that I did ages ago, with an army scheme based mainly around black, bone and orange. For the aspect warriors I tended to paint the heads and weapons the same as the codex schemes whilst the rest was done in a similar colour to the overall army scheme. Doing this helps keep them unified with the rest of the army yet helps them stand out enough to stick out as a specialist unit.
allright thats good to know thanks for ur tips on the colors
