What color would you recommend for this task?
A mix of scaly green and white. There is no longer a colour which is a highlight of scaly green, (it was jade green but long gone). I suggest you use only a smallish amount of white for the mix or the highlight will be too bright. A pale, light blue could be mixed with a small amount of goblin green to give a kind of light but cold green, scaly green is a dark cold or aqua green.
dude! i love you!
scaly green is by far my fave color, sadly gw doesnt make it anymore...mooving on..
i use scaly green on my eldar, there are 2 main ways to go imo.
#1- greenish: mix in a tiny bit of scorpion green and add little bits building it up
#2-turquoise: mix 50/50 scaly/hawk turquiose, building up to 25/75 then add white
Try Rotting Flesh. That's a very good highlight color. That will keep it more green too, where white will turn it sort of pastel. Though maybe pastel is what you want.
They don't make Scaly Green anymore? What's their problem? What else did they get rid of?
Also they got rid of Midnight Blue, Tentacle Pink and I think another...
I had just started a Midnight Blue Dark Elf army when I heard this and have about five pots of the stuff now
Scaly Green highlights excellently with Farseer_Matts' suggestions, though instead of a tip highlight of white, I've seen a very light, but still vivid, blue used to quite an interesting effect that is worth a try
Thanks for the input.
GW also trashed one of the oranges, tentacle pink, midnight blue, uh..
There are a few others that escape me right now.
They aren't making tentacle pink anymore? Gar, now I'll never finish painting my 'crons.
I might want to highlight scaly green with a scaly green + some form of yellow, then just a straight-on yellow.
Vallejo still makes Jade Green, which is the exact same shade as the old Jade Green.
GW(in australia) trashed tentacle pink, scaly green (sadface), brazen brass, midnight blue and teracotta.
sadly, i used almost all of these colours... >.<
