Welcome to Librarium Online!
Because I have a lot of time on my hands and a cumbersomely wild imagination I found myself sitting at my work on thursday brainstorming on new conversion ideas.
"Hm, IG mounted on Balrog. No." scratches off idea.
"Lets see....have my heavy weapon crews use HE/DE bolt throwers? No." scratches off idea.
"I know, convert a Lizardman carnosaur into a sentinel!! Brilliant! Self high-five!" high fives his own hand.
I think this will work rather successfully as the carnosaur is the inbetween cold ones and stegadons in size, and a lascannon would look pretty hot hanging off one. Plus with the way my Severites look, and the kits they are derived from(cadian, WHFB pistoliers state troops and knights) I've got lots of room for believability here. Questions, comments, and declarations of my questionable sanity welcome.
"Courage without the presence of fear is like a pistol without bullets. Meaningless." Colonel Igor Massif, 6777th Severite Rifles M40
Youd have to build a cabinet or something on the carnisour ior itl jus look like the ig horsemen which im sure your not willing to spend around 50$ for XD. ya it can actually look pretty dam cool great idea!
Awhile back i remember reading an article on GW where they had stats for carnosaurs in 40k as either roaming monsters or as HS slots for an army. I wanted to do a themed army around the old cartoon dino riders. If you havent seen it might be somewhat of an inspiration to the conversion.
I like the idea of using a carnosaur for... something... but it seems like using it as an IG sentinel is too weak for the power of such a beast. I'd sooner convert it into a daemon or maybe use the dreadnought rules for it.
I think the Carnosaur is fun. It is however very big and scary looking to be a Sentinel. As far as I know Sentinels are crushed easily as lightly armoured vehicles. It would be possible though but you will have to make sure it clear it's a Sentinel (tell the other player I imagine). Perhaps something else in the range will work well. If you want big lizards Cold ones could work as Rough riders. You should also take a look at Macewind's Exodite thread as he is working with lizards in there. Oh and I looked for that article about using giant reptiles in 40K, I had a link to it. The article was on the net but since GW redesigned their site it is now gone.
