so this is my latest attempt at painting, this is just figure from the entire squad just to show examples. i realized after i took the pics i forgot to drill the barrel... oops :-)
any tips or constructive criticism is more than welcome.
thanks in advance
Not a bad attempt.
Looks like you could benefit from using thinner paint. People generally say to thin your paint down to the ocnsistency of milk, but i find this a bit too thin. Just make sure you don't use the paint straight out of the pot. Mix it on a pallette with a bit of water. Remember, 2 or 3, possibly more, thin layers of paint will look better than 1 thick layer.
Also looks like it needs a bit more shading and highlights, especially on the metallics. Badab Black is a good wash to use on metallics.
Good work Sniffle. I think the armour looks good. I agree with Jamie that the metal needs a wash, and possibly a highlight after. The skin might also benefit from another highlight.
Really nice work. You have clearly grasped the basics. I guess all you really need to do is knukle down and practise lots. There is not much interpeople can tell you that you wont pick up on your if you practise and practise. One thing i would suggest is paint the edge of base graveyard earth. I read it in W.D a few months ago and i have started using it on all my minis i paint. It really does help!
Other than that great work!
I AM BOOMER!
You look like you've made a really good start with them! You've certainly got the basics nailed!
My only tip would be to try a little highligting. I see you used some shading, which could maybe be a tiny bit neater, but overall I think all they need is maybe an extra shade of highlighting.
Great first attempt
Highlights are the biggest thing that's missing but I noticed that the eyes need a little work. I know they can be a little tricky but here's what I do:
1- a small jab of the color you want the pupil to be in each eye.
2- carefully dot each side of the eyes with skull white.
3- Take some black ink and outline the inside to the eyes.
If you do this right, th eyes should look decent.

so what you guys are saying is that i need more shading and better eye detail, ok i think i can handle that i'm not really sure how i'll achieve that but i'm sure i'll figure it out, i probably just need some closeups to look at to understand it a little better, painting these figures has almost become a passion of mine, i'm always looking for ways to improve and take any sugestions i can get!
thanks for all of your help, everyone!!!
