Alright I believe I posted pictures a long time ago when this figures where still being built. But I couldnt find the thread so this will be a new one. I go bored with guardsmen after building and painting my 40th. I won a tournament and had some extra prize money which went to buying some ork models when the new truck and lootas can out. I used my extra guard bits to make the orks my conscripted guardsmen.
The story behind them is that they saw the guardsmen's guns and wanted to use the 'flashy' guns. They approached the guard unit and the leading commissar seeing no problems with orks fighting for redemption under the Emperor gave them the scrape his unit didn't need. In return the orks fight for the Commissar and even allowed their leader to be personally trained by the Commissar. Since they proxy guardsmen in the game I say the lower toughness is from being isolated from any near by WAGHHHs and the increased armor save comes from the orks wearing extra shoulder plates and guard helmets. The orks even started to convert their trucks to resemble the imperials chimeras.
The Commissar was made from a promo figure my friend gave me. He didnt play the game and I didnt play fantasy. So I took off his one arm, replaced it with a powerfist/claw, green stuffed a commissar kepi and cigar, gave him a las pistol, and put some cool orky pistols on the back of the little dude on his shoulder. He still needs some minor painting work done.
The Sergernt has an Aqulia on his boss pole as well as a lasgun.
The Boys all got lasguns, some goy helmets, some got space marine shoulder pads, and everyone got guard backpacks and belt accessories. I have one human who acts as the translator for the orks in the squad, hes not done being painted just yet.
And my favorite part of the squad so far, the Chimera. I made the top out of plasticard and the canvas covering out of papertowels painted with white glue. To represent the multilaser I put an in a makeshift turret from spare tank parts and a loota-boy who had a multilaser looking gun. The hull mounted heavy bolter is represented by the ork next to the driver. I make the back have a drop down ramp and extended the front of the truck to represent the front armor of 12. I still need to add a hunter killer missile to the crane but its almost done.
I still have to paint three more orky guardsmen and the plasma gunner who is one of the loota's. I also have a squad of Hardern'd Veteran with ork support in the works. Mroe pictures to come as things advance along. Everyone still needs to get based and have snow effects done.
Heres what the squad looks like for now.

friggin awesome mate.
goodw ork.... could be more.... greenstufed to be slightly more guardy... but i like it.
Needs moar ork comissar...
no scratch that... ill do one
THAT IS FRIGGING AWESOME! Take some very shiny rep and a cookie! I think this is the first time the imperial gaurd made a good conscripting.
Also, one idea I have is that you should try painting numbers on the shoulder pads, because most orks look the same, so the imperial gaurd captains would probbably refer to them by numbers to differentiate. Thats just my idea.
Great Job! you'll have to up date ASAP! By the way, in case you didn't know the trukk rocks... I'll bet you knew that... good job...
Way kewl! Some GW staffer did something like this a long time ago. He basically took Orks and greenstuffed fatigues on all of them. My favorite was the standard bearer, who carried a big banner that read, "FER DA EMPURA!"
A very clever idea, well done. Do the lasguns counts as shootas in game?
And i really like the idea of snow on your battle wagon, wish i had done that now!
Rep to you.
I AM BOOMER!
hamsterlord20- I am going to put numbers on them. I just didnt have any decals with me. Ill do it this week.
Ravadge- Ill have new pictures of the Basilisk and such this week.
Canew- That is exactly where I got the idea. Also was influanced by the Grot Rebellion army.
Boomer- I actually use them as guardsmen instead of orks. Though if I ever do start a Ork army I will use them as shootas. My heavy weapon squads use big shootas as heavy bolters though.
Its a wicked concept, I would of just replaced the lasguns barrels with some thicker plasticard for that st4 hit.
Or maybe some small gubbins on each pistol for that orky blast.
But yeah, very cool!
