Hey guys I recently recieved 2 GK FW Dreads and am wanting to make them look fantastic.
Though instead of seeking the advice of more knowledgeable people I started one on my own. I primed it with a black semi gloss which was incorrectly labeled flat. Though that wasnt that big of a deal. I then painted a foundation on it of a light gray color. I dont remember the exact name other then it was a foundation and it had gray in the name. I then drybrushed a mithril silver over the body.
I am going for a bright silver color but for some reason dont think I am doing it righ and instead of continuing on my own I seek your help.
The second issue is my Land Raider for my GKT and they are painted black with some dry brushed metal on them to give them a worn out look. I was wanting to do the same with the landraider how should I do the gold to give it a worn look... or a beaten look. Any Ideas? Also I have the weapons on my GKT red would red gold and black on a tank look okay? Maybe gold on Icons and the doors (I have the FW ones) and red on the weapons?
Some pictures of what you currently have would help us a bit more with your first issue, if you are able to do that. I'm not too sure on how to achieve the bright silver you are looking for. The way I would go about doing it would be to work my way up to Mithril Silver from a darker metallic such as Boltgun Metal. This could then be followed by a heavy drybrush of Chainmail Silver, and finally and drybrush of Mithril Silver. Be sure to include a wash or two of Badab Black between the BM and CS stages.
I believe that a brown wash is good to give gold a beaten, worn look.
